Lydall offers a variety of testing capabilities to simulate the unique conditions of automotive applications.

Thermal Application Engineering

  • Natural Gas burner system for full exhaust and exhaust sub-system testing. Dynamic testing of manifolds, catalytic converters, and mufflers to find the correct thermal solution to meet your needs.
  • Electric Heater system for small-scale quick turn simulation and measurement.
  • Thermocouple measurements and infrared (IR) technology are used to measure and evaluate the thermal environment.

Acoustic Application Engineering

  • Head and Torso System for In-Vehicle sound package analysis
  • Normal Incidence Sound Absorption measurement with Impedance Tube
  • Random Incidence Sound Absorption measurement with Alpha Cabin
  • Vehicle level mock-up and performance validation testing

 Vibration/Durability Application Engineering

  • Two Electrodynamic Single Axis Shaker systems with multi-channel modal analysis to determine dynamic characteristics such as stiffness and damping.
  • Multiple OEM durability tests are simulated in-house to provide critical knowledge of the life expectancy of parts and Customer Equivalent Mileage (CEM) correlation.

Physical/Mechanical Testing and Component Validation

a2La
  • Lydall’s Material Testing Laboratory is accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories. (A2LA Certificate 1959-01: Mechanical Testing)
  • Over 140 separate thermal, acoustic and mechanical test methods conducted in house to support benchmarking, material optimization, DVP&R and component validation to OEM standards.
